pastured poultry

All of our poultry is pastured for as much of their lives as we can, and they all eat a certified organic ration. We generally get them as day-old chicks, and keep them indoors in a "brooder" until they have enough feathers and are old enough to withstand the temperatures and weather of the outdoors. Then they spend the rest of their lives getting rotated to fresh pasture, where they dine on bugs, grass, and clover.

Turkey

NOW CERTIFIED ORGANIC!

Get your Thanksgiving turkey from us! Pre-order your turkey well in advance, as we sell out every year. The price per pound for 2016 is $4.95/lb (FarmShare members receive 10 cents off per pound).

We raise broad-breasted white and bronze turkeys on pasture, where they are able to roam in the sun (and rain - they don't seem to mind), eating clover, grass, bugs, and certified organic grain.

We process the turkeys here on the farm on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving, and then our customers come to pick them up on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. This way, you get a visit to a beautiful farm, as well as securing the most delicious, freshest turkey you could get. Buying your turkey fresh, not frozen, will also speed the cooking on the big day.

eggs

Fresh eggs from our happy, healthy hens are available year-round at the farm (self-serve during daylight hours) or at the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market. $5/dozen.

Our hens live in a mobile henhouse (the "Eggmobile"), which we move to fresh pasture each week. It's mutually beneficial for the hens and the soil- they fertilize the soil, eat weed seeds, and get access to fresh pasture for the tastiest morsels. They dine on our certified organic grain ration, supplemented with grass, clover, the aforementioned seeds, and whatever bugs they can catch.

For meat, we raise Cornish Cross chickens on pasture, where they are moved to fresh grass every day as well as dining on a certified organic ration. We process the chickens on-farm every two weeks from June through October. This means we have fresh chicken available for pick-up on the farm the day after each one of these processing days.  For 2016, $4.50/lb for fresh chicken picked up at the farm.

We have frozen chicken available year-round at the farm or at the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market
